Introduction:
Today's we are going to explore the most beautiful water flower which is Water Lily.As you can see, the flowers are quite lovely. It’s currently their grooming time. When I planted them, I did the repotting in March.. There are two water lilies white and pink water lilies.
Water lilies are wonderful and vibrant additions to any garden. They might be rare in many homes, but if you have them, they are a beautiful and unique feature. They also have various names and types, and while I might not know all, I appreciate their beauty and variety.
Blooming Seasons:
Water lilies typically bloom from August to September, and they are at their most beautiful during this time. After September 15, their flowering decreases and their leaves also become smaller as the temperature drops. Initially, the leaves may completely dry up. Right now, you can see how vibrant and green the lilies are; it's a great growth period. In Delhi too, you don’t need to worry. From February-March, the leaves start growing again.
Water lilies are easy to maintain if you know a few things. For instance, the distinctive feature of their leaves is the cut marks. Water lilies are different from lotuses, which have completely round leaves and the blooms are not persistent.
- Sunlight:
Talking about sunlight, water lilies need a lot of it. If placed in direct sunlight, they thrive well. If you can provide 2-3 hours of sunlight, that is sufficient. Avoid planting them in shady areas. They come in various colors, and you can find many shades on the page.
- Planting:
For planting, use smooth soil. Typically, you use soil from the edge of a pond or nursery soil. If you don’t have that, mix garden soil with about 20% vermicompost and cow dung. Place the rhizomes in a pot with half soil, and add a layer of sand on top to keep the soil clean and prevent it from floating.
- Water lilies come in various varieties, and their blooming frequency can vary. For example, pink ones might bloom every week or so, while others might take longer. It’s fascinating to see these plants grow and bloom in your garden.
- Some varieties, like the white ones, haven't bloomed yet, but they are in the process. The pink lilies are particularly beautiful, and their different leaf shapes and colors make them distinct.
- Fertilizers Usage:
You can also add fertilizers like NP or other granular options. However, avoid over-fertilizing, as it can harm the plant. Regular fertilizing promotes blooming. If algae or other problems arise due to sunlight, consider adding floating plants to cover the water surface, which can help control algae growth and maintain a clean environment.
Overall, water lilies are lovely and rewarding plants to grow. They enhance the beauty of your garden and can be a delightful surprise each morning. If you enjoyed this blog, please like and subscribe for more updates.
